Terms and Conditions

 

Quotes: Quotations are produced with as much detail as possible to avoid any misunderstandings. If something is missing that you would like included, please let me know and I will revise the quotation accordingly.

Unless I otherwise specify where the client is provided with a fixed price quotation that fixed price shall be valid and open for acceptance within twenty eight (28) days unless a longer time is specified on the face of the quotation and, if not so accepted within the designated period shall be deemed withdrawn.

 

Working Arrangements: All prices quoted are calculated on the basis of free access and unimpeded working during our normal working hours (9 am - 6 pm Mon - Fri), unless otherwise agreed.

Arrangements: I agree to practical arrangements on working methods that provide minimum disruption to the client and allow work to be carried out efficiently by Odd Jobs Handy Man.

Access: Free access is required for delivery of materials, plant, machinery and skips etc. However should charges be payable this will be at the clients expense.

Access to and collection of used or unused materials, equipment and plant etc remains in place until full and cleared final payment is received.

Materials: All building and other materials provided by Odd Jobs Handy Man or their sub-contractors remain the property of the business until full and final payment is received via Bank Transfer, Card or Cash.

Accepting a quotation, either verbally or in writing (including texts and emails), and agreeing to the commencement of works will allow these terms and conditions to come into effect.

Direct and Sub-Contractor: I being 'Odd Jobs Handy Man' may employ both direct and sub-contract labour to work on site. Each individual contractor takes full responsibility for their own third party liability. The main contractor will oversee all works to completion and takes full general and operational responsibility in the running of any contract agreed with the client.

 

The Client: Confirms that he/she is either the owner of the premises at which the services will take place and is entitled to commission the services without the consent of any third party, or otherwise has the necessary authorisation in place for the services to be carried out.

The Client is expected to provide electrical power, running water and toilet facilities where reasonably possible.

If a Client is non-contactable I will only continue with works if I have prior authorisation from the Client, or if it is not safe/feasible to halt urgent works at that point.

Where the Client is represented by a third party (such as a managing agent, contractor or other representative), in the event of non-payment by the Client, the third party will be responsible for payment unless 'Odd Jobs Handy Man' has agreed otherwise in writing.

Unless agreed in writing between the parties, the Customer will be responsible for the removal from site of all waste materials resulting from the Works

The client has the right to cancel any work without penalty up to 24 hours before the work is scheduled to take place. Any cancellations made within 24 hours of the start date will be subject to a charge of £30.00.

 

Odd Jobs Handy Man: shall not be held liable for any costs claimed by the Client in respect of the non-attendance or late attendance on site of Odd Jobs Handy Man, or for the late or non-delivery of materials, or materials/goods which are faulty or incorrectly supplied.

Odd Jobs Handy Man does not accept liability for any injury to persons, domestic animals, livestock or birds, or any loss or damage to property or goods, unless due to our negligence. The Client must notify Odd Jobs Handy Man of this damage, injury or loss in writing within 24 hours of the incident.

Odd Jobs Handy Man does not provide qualified telephone advice and does not accept liability for advice which the Client may claim to have received by telephone.

Odd Jobs Handy Man will not be liable for any delay to the provision of goods and services due to force majeure or any other event beyond its reasonable control.

Odd Jobs Handy Man may terminate an agreement with a Client if the Client; becomes bankrupt, commits a material breach of their agreement, refuses to take delivery of goods, refuses to allow Odd Jobs Handy Man to provide services at the time and date agreed, defaults in paying the price or any part of it.


Payments: can be made via Bank Transfer, by cash or via card payment and a invoice for payment will be emailed or posted. (Sorry cheques are not accepted). Bank Transfer details can be found on the invoice or given upon request. Payment in full is due upon completion of the contract and presentation of the associated invoice. A down payment is usually required in respect of the acquisition of materials in excess of £100.00.

Payment is due within 7 days of the completion of work unless I otherwise specify. No VAT included.

Insurance and Public Liability: Public Liability Insurance is provided up to the sum of £2,000,000 by; AXA - 550.085.428.

Data Protection: All client information is retained in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1988 and all personal and other client details will remain confidential.

Extras: Will only be undertaken further to both full discussion with the client, and, verbal or written agreement, and charged at the agreed rate.

 

I will always attempt to bring work to a satisfactory conclusion as soon as possible taking into account weather conditions and availability of specialist materials and unforeseen circumstances etc.
